Earlier this week, many people were understandably ticked off when admitted abuser Chris Niosi was unveiled as the voice actor for Byleth of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Despite specific voice credits for Fire Emblem: Three Houses not yet being known, Niosi was discovered as the voice actor thanks to a Fire Emblem Heroes trailer covering upcoming Three Houses characters. However, Nintendo reacted very quickly and has already replaced Chris Niosi in Fire Emblem Heroes. The latest “New Hero” trailer for the mobile game highlights Zach Aguilar as the new Byleth.
After facing numerous accusations of abuse, Niosi recently uploaded a massive post to his Tumblr account admitting to and detailing many awful, abusive acts. The confession wastes no time getting to the point, opening with the following:
My name is Christopher Niosi; also known as Kirbopher. I am 30 years old and for about half of my lifetime, I have horribly mistreated and abused friends, colleagues and even my significant others. It is time that I addressed each and every one of those people and responded to their feelings with individual apologies for what I’ve done to hurt them. This will be a masterpost containing all of the appropriate posts in one location, so that the people they have been written for, along with anyone else who wishes to read them, can easily access the information.
Thankfully, Nintendo was quick to remove Niosi from Fire Emblem Heroes. It is disturbing that Chris Niosi was hired in the first place. Controversy like this mars an otherwise excellent game, but hopefully, Niosi will soon be gone from Fire Emblem: Three Houses as well.
