The 3DS is a versatile little handheld; home to many different kinds of games, all belonging to various different genres. The guys over at Big John Games hope to add to that ever-growing list, with their new city-building sim, Lionel City Builder 3D.

The new 3DS title has an interesting premise. The game is set 50 years in the future. In that time, transportation between communities has broken down and thus they\’ve become isolated and decayed Commerce has slowed down due to lack of transportation of goods, thus leaving the economies of communities and cities in ruin. Players will take on the roll of \”Vin\”, a smelting yard worker, who wants to reestablish trains as transportation and sets out in a hope to connect communities and save the day.

The game will feature a rich sandbox mode with hundreds of unique environments. Players will be able to assemble a train and take it through user-created landscapes; these of which will be share-able via QR Codes. All of this is added to the story mode and playable missions.

Lionel City Builder 3D will be completed and released to the 3DS eShop in a matter of months.
