Publisher ININ Games has at long last announced a digital release date for Clockwork Aquario on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, a canceled arcade game that has finally been finished decades later. Clockwork Aquario has received a digital release date of December 14, 2021 in North America and November 30, 2021 in Europe. It is not yet clear when the special physical versions with Strictly Limited Games will ship.
As we have previously reported, Clockwork Aquario was a colorful sidescroller arcade game in development at Westone Bit Entertainment, but it was canceled in 1992 when it became clear that 3D games were becoming the new trend. Ryuichi Nishizawa, the co-founder of Westone Bit Entertainment and creator of Wonder Boy, designed Clockwork Aquario, and with the support of fans and ININ, he has finally finished the game. And it looks pretty darn pretty in its ESRB trailer.
Here is what you can expect from Clockwork Aquario as its Switch and PS4 release date finally nears:
Clockwork Aquario presents imaginatively created levels with beautiful, colourful, pixel graphics. Easy to pick up, the addictive side-scroller action and intuitive controls ensure you will instantly be immersed in the action as you face a host of baddies! Choose your favorite character and conquer various enemies and unique bosses with Huck Londo, Elle Moon, or the giant robot Gush – alone or together with your favorite Player 2 in co-op mode! Complemented by an amazing soundtrack by Westone legend Shinichi Sakamoto, Clockwork Aquario has been well worth the wait.
We’ll be reviewing this one, so stay tuned!
