Colors Live stylus

Last month, we reported on Colors Live, an art app for Switch that comes bundled with a new type of stylus. Now, the Kickstarter project is nearing its conclusion and has smashed all of its project stretch goals.

The stylus pen in question, called the Colors SonarPen, will come bundled with a new piece of software. This “app”, Colors Live, is a continuation of the Colors series, which appeared on DS and 3DS. This time around, Colors Live will include multiple modes. For example, alongside a base painting option, you will find a quest mode where players “paint something new every day, using a set theme and various rules.”

The stylus itself will use the 3.5mm jack for connectivity, as the Switch doesn’t support Bluetooth. Stylus pens for iPad and other tablets tend to use this popular wireless technology, which is ideal for free movement. Sadly, this means you can’t use headphones for general audio while using the Colors SonarPen.

The Kickstarter project is now incredibly successful. At the time of writing, it sits at over $152,000 USD – quite a bit more than its initial funding goal of $16,289. The current funding amount means Colors Live has already surpassed its two stretch goals. These involve additional localization languages at $100,000 USD, and a select & move tool at $125,000. The estimated delivery date for backers is October 2020, and there are multiple purchase options available, from $40 to $600.
