Games Done Quick (GDQ) is a speedrunning event that raises millions of dollars for charity, and it typically holds two major events per year. However, due to coronavirus, Summer Games Done Quick 2020 (SGDQ 2020) had to be delayed to August. Fortunately, in the interim we are receiving Corona Relief Done Quick, a three-day event that will begin this Friday, April 17 at 11:30 a.m. EST and conclude late on Sunday, April 19. All money donated during this event will go to humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief, and the schedule for Corona Relief Done Quick is live now.
The #CRDQ schedule is live!
Runners: you should have received an email containing further info. You must follow the instructions ASAP in order to remain on the schedule!

Even though this is a hastily arranged three-day event, as opposed to the usual meticulously crafted seven-day events, this is bound to be an exciting event because there are lots of awesome games in the schedule. For instance, Donkey Kong Country on SNES kicks things off at noon this Friday, followed by recently released Shovel Knight: King of Cards (!) and Sonic Mania.
Honestly, the whole Corona Relief Done Quick event sounds like a “greatest hits” factory designed to get as many eyeballs as possible: Halo: Combat Evolved, a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time randomizer co-op (!!!), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Viewtiful Joe, Cuphead, Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil 7, Mega Man 9, Pokémon Sword, a The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past race, a Super Mario Bros. 3 race, Super Mario Odyssey as a bonus incentive game, and of course Super Metroid. And those are only the first games to stick out to me!
Speedrunners are going to speedrun coronavirus into oblivion with Corona Relief Done Quick, I hope. Make sure you watch it! But in the meantime, tell us which runs you’re most excited for.
