Crying action RPG Crystar heads to Nintendo Switch this February in Japan

FuRyu has announced that its action RPG Crystar is headed to Nintendo Switch this February in Japan, and NIS America will bring it to the West in spring 2022 with English and Japanese voicing.

Crystar follows Rei and her little sister Mirai who find themselves summoned to Purgatory by an unknown evil. Rei agrees to a contract with the demons that involves slaying wandering souls in Purgatory to save her sister. The gameplay revolves around the theme of “crying.” As Rei, you’ll cry to purify or empower weapons. Rei also cries to take down monsters, improve her mental strength, and even summon guardians. It’s difficult to explain why Rei has a constant need to bawl, but it has to do with powering through grief.

The Gemdrops-developed game was originally released in Japan for PlayStation 4 in October 2018, followed by a worldwide release in August 2019 for the PS4 and Steam. FuRyu hasn’t revealed any new content for the Nintendo Switch version of Crystar. However, it will include 30 DLC pieces in the game. These mostly consist of costumes ranging from swimsuits to Santa outfits.
