Cyber Shadow interview Aarne Hunziker MekaSkull Yacht Club Games ninja platformer

Cyber Shadow was one of the biggest surprise reveals of 2019. It’s a positively sick 8-bit ninja sidescroller in development by solo Finnish developer Aarne “MekaSkull” Hunziker, and it’s being published by the home of Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games. Nintendo Enthusiast recently interviewed Hunziker on a variety of topics related to Cyber Shadow, and among other things, we learned roughly how long it will take to give the game one full playthrough.

“Personally, I can complete the game in a few hours,” said Hunziker, “but playtesters are taking anywhere from 4 to 10 hours to reach the ending. This is not counting feats / achievements.”

For an action sidescroller, 4-10 hours of gameplay is actually pretty hefty. So once you factor in achievements and the inherent replayability of games in this genre, you have an experience that’s bound to offer a lot of mileage. But that being said, I’m already eager to watch speedrunners tear this game wide open!

Anyway, come back this Monday for our full, exclusive Cyber Shadow feature, in which Hunziker describes his relationship with Yacht Club Games, provides new gameplay details, discusses his ambitious goals for the game, and even teases some surprises for the future.

In the meantime, have a look at a couple more enticing screenshots below!
