Don't Give Up: A Cynical Tale

RPGs are a great genre. Most titles tell fascinating tales and provide players hours of content to enjoy. The Nintendo Switch is no stranger to these adventures. Indeed, the platform is home to the likes of Undertale and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. But what about a game that’s all about overcoming self-destruction? That’s the idea behind the upcoming RPG Don’t Give Up: A Cynical Tale, which will hit the eShop on April 8.

Don’t Give Up: A Cynical Tale looks like one of those tearjerkers

Take a look at the release date trailer for the game, courtesy of Nintendo’s YouTube channel:

Neat concept! The journey looks like it mixes lighthearted fare with serious discussions of trauma. Also, I dig the art because it reminds me of Super Time Force.

The game follows a character named Tris who has moved to a new city after suffering a nervous breakdown. As he struggles with his life as an independent developer, he has to face some of the demons he left behind years ago.

Here are some of the title’s features:

  • Emotional and engaging narrative
  • Real-time battles
  • Locations with businesses like arcades, clubs, and burger shops (EarthBound much?)
  • Over 100 NPCs

Don’t Give Up: A Cynical Tale will cost $9.99 on the eShop when it launches on April 8. However, if you pre-order it now, you can nab it for $8.49.
