After managing to sell 3 million units in July 2020, Dead Cells has hit yet another milestone, as developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire have confirmed that the game has surpassed 5 million copies sold across all platforms. The recent mobile release in China proved to be extremely popular, with the game managing to sell 1 million copies in ”just a few days.” Dead Cells launched on Nintendo Switch back in August 2018 and saw its most recent expansion in January 2021 with Fatal Falls. Some of the game’s sales could have potentially been influenced by the Nintendo Switch Online Trial, which offered a discount for those who enjoyed it.
If you have yet to experience Dead Cells, it is a brilliant roguelike indie game with challenging and addictive gameplay. Fatal Falls introduced new biomes, weapons and enemies. There will undoubtedly be more updates for the game, and The Bad Seed DLC is launching on mobile devices at the end of March.
Dead Cells is currently available on Nintendo Switch in both digital and physical editions. The game retails for $24.99 / £22.49 on the Switch eShop, with a variety of DLC available for purchase as well. Are you one of the 5 million owners of Dead Cells, and if so, what do you think of it?
