Publisher Serenity Forge and developer White Rabbit have announced a September 30, 2021 digital release date for Metroidvania action game Death’s Gambit: Afterlife on Nintendo Switch and PC. Additionally, a Nintendo Switch physical release of Death’s Gambit: Afterlife will launch early next year for $34.99, available for preorder online or at retailers. That version at the publisher website will include a physical cartridge, illustrated inner coversheet for the box, a vinyl sticker sheet including nine total stickers, and a double-sided poster. A vinyl soundtrack and T-shirts for the game can be bought separately at the Serenity Forge website too, if you’re some super fan.
First announced at E3 2021, Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is a massive update of Death’s Gambit, which originally released in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and PC. Afterlife “adds 10 new levels, 6 new boss fights, 22 new weapons, 100 talents, skills, storylines, cinematics, gameplay enhancements, and much more to make it the most robust and comprehensive edition of the game to date.” The Death’s Gambit: Afterlife release date trailer highlights all of the new content to expect on Switch and PC, in addition to showcasing the game’s haunting art style.
Developer White Rabbit, rooted in Los Angeles, developed Death’s Gambit as a “passion project of 7 years.” Here’s to hoping you think all that passion was worth the effort when Afterlife launches later this month.
