Deleted trailer revealed Paper Mario: The Origami King combat partners

Paper Mario- The Origami King combat partners Nintendo Switch

Paper Mario: The Origami King combat partners may well have been revealed in a Chinese trailer for the game. The Chinese trailer was largely the same as the English version, apart from the fact that there is a Toad character accompanying Mario in combat. This detail was captured by GameXplain, which seems to think that combat partners will be in the game, considering that they have been shown elsewhere in various scenes, as well as in marketing material.

Other partners shown in the game include a Bob-omb, Kamek, a possible Koopa, and even a folded version of Bowser. Promotional material for the game states that players will be able to team up with extraordinary companions and master magical powers along their journey.

The scene with Toad in battle makes Paper Mario: The Origami King combat partners even more likely due to the stance. The character appears to be waiting for their turn and even jumps in celebration with every Boo that Mario attacks.

It’s possible that Nintendo removed the Chinese trailer because they want to debut companions in combat at a later date. Given that the new combat system looks like it will need an overview itself, it would make sense for Nintendo to cover all aspects of it, including companions, in a separate video.

Paper Mario: The Origami King launches on July 17. We’ll keep you up to date with all the news on the game until then.
