Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light is slightly contentious. In contrast, I believe everyone can agree the mode’s opening cinematic is beautiful and gut-wrenching. Over at Nintendo Wire, someone has created a Game Boy Color demake of that very intro.

Wow, this is impressive

Everything is on point with this video. First of all, the sounds and visuals are retro and representative of the GBC’s capabilities. Furthermore, the main theme of Smash Bros. Ultimate is recognizable even through 8-bit. Also, character portraits convey dialogue and are appropriately blurry. Most noteworthy, the devastation is intact. I am definitely crying many tears now, 8-bit graphics be damned.

Fellow enthusiasts, what do you make of the World of Light demake? Do you approve? Likewise, would you buy Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Game Boy Color? Let us know your thoughts down below!
