Are you folks poking around the Galar region? Have you been utilizing our guides on Ditto and curry? If so, you have it made. Back in the GBC days, being able to cook curry would have blown gamers’ minds. In fact, ever wonder what Pokémon Sword and Shield would have looked like if they were made in the late ’90s? A concept video from Nintendo Wire has the answer, as it demakes the titles into 8-bit adventures.

Nintendo needs to embrace demakes as a viable market

Witness a blast from the past with the reimagined games below:

It’s a pretty lengthy clip for what it is. Thankfully, the animation only showcases the beginning of Pokémon Sword and Shield, so it’s light on spoilers. And, as with other demake ideas, a remarkable execution.

I didn’t think it was possible, but Wooloo looks even cuter as an 8-bit sprite. The music and sound are also lovingly retro.

All in all, this is a cute piece of nostalgia. While it’s nice to be reminded of simpler times, having modern advancements and improvements are way more important. Older and younger players probably cherish the revamped Exp. Share more than the earlier, archaic version, after all.

Enthusiasts, do you enjoy these snippets of demakes? Are there any recent titles you’d like to see in an 8-bit format? Let us know below!
