Demon Throttle physical box exclusive Nintendo Switch Devolver Digital Doinksoft top-down shooter

Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Doinksoft are launching top-down shooter Demon Throttle exclusively physically on Nintendo Switch in 2022 through Special Reserve Games, where it retails for $29.99 or $39.99 depending on version. It will “never” receive a digital release, and combined with its awesome NES-like 8-bit pixel art, this game is as legitimately retro as you can get. It also just looks generally awesome in its new trailer.

As Devolver Digital explains, “Demon Throttle tells the story of a beautiful vampiress and dusty gunslinger on a quest for vengeance against a demon that stole her mystical chalices and slept with his estranged wife. Now the two unlikely companions must blast their way through four monstrous generals and their wicked domains in order to lift the demon’s curse and exact their revenge.” There are no further details about the game provided beyond what you see in the hectic trailer, where things are delightfully shooting and exploding nonstop.

Doinksoft previously created Gato Roboto, which we thought was terrific, so the stars all seem to be aligning for this title so far. Personally, this game screams comparisons to Square’s King’s Quest on NES, which is awesome to me. Let us know if you plan to preorder Demon Throttle on Switch for a good ol’ boxed copy. Also, take note that we will call Doinksoft and Devolver chickens if they release this game digitally later.
