RedDeerGames and Nupixo Games have announced that they are bringing Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders, a point-and-click adventure mystery set in ancient China, to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in December. The premise of the game is that a serial killer is systematically targeting women in the Chinese capital during the Tang dynasty, leaving riddles and warnings behind at the murder scenes. New, young detective Di Renjije is tasked by Empress Wu Zetian to crack the identity of the killer.
The Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders Switch / Xbox announcement trailer offers more of what to expect, and the game previously released for PC in 2019. (Steam reviews are positive but seem to think the game is a bit short.) Gameplay consists of investigating crime scenes, talking to witnesses, selecting dialogue options, finding evidence, completing a “deduction board,” and recreating the “course of the crime on the basis of the clues found at the end of every chapter.” Tonally, the game provides a “dark, mature” storyline.
Incidentally, Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders isn’t the only pixel-art adventure rooted in Chinese culture that is on the way to Nintendo Switch, as The Rewinder is also in the works with a puzzle and mythology slant. Surely these are the games that will steal all of Halo Infinite‘s multiplayer thunder.
