While we have had plenty of hints that some games could come to the NX, like Square Enix’s Dragon Quest XI, no games have yet been confirmed for Nintendo’s mysterious, unannounced console. Nor have we had any idea whether development kits have been sent out. A Facebook post for indie game Puzzlebox Setup has introduced some intriguing new hints, however.
The game is a follow-up to the 3DS indie title also called Puzzlebox Setup. Developed by Bplus Games, it is a relaxing pixel-art styled game where you let colored tiles fall down in the bottle to finish a setup or to create a picture. This updated version features new levels, new game modes, a new level editor, and new level sharing. This was initially revealed as a Steam game.
When asked on Facebook whether there would be an update to the 3DS version of the title to bring it up to par with the Steam version, developer at Bplus Bernd Geiblinger said:
Not possible, this game is made for NX but modified to be released on Steam earlier, because sadly I’m not able to wait til NX and need to release this game soon.
He went on to mention his other franchise, Bit Boy, which had Bit Boy Arcade!! also release on the 3DS, revealing that the franchise may also hit the NX yet he could not say anything more until Nintendo officially announced the platform.
You will definitely see Kubi traveling back to the old Bit-Eras on NX. Stay tuned. Cannot talk about something specific before Nintendo announces the new platform.
We reached out to Bernd but he could not comment on whether or not he has a dev kit.
This definitely introduces several questions: have development kits been sent out? Is the controller different in some way? Is this more confirmation that the NX is a specific console? How far away is the NX if he needs to make a Steam port? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below!
