DMG Deals Damage new Game Boy game Dr. Ludos

Yep. We’re getting a brand new Game Boy game where you play as a Game Boy on a Game Boy cart to celebrate the Game Boy’s 30th anniversary. And while new physical releases for old systems isn’t unheard of, it’s still exciting when an independent developer goes all out and produces them. DMG Deals Damage is one of those labors of love by Dr. Ludos, who is known for making retro games utilizing old hardware. Here’s the official description:

April, 21th, 2019. Today, the Game Boy turns 30 years old!
But every other mobile gaming device is jealous of Game Boy timeless success. So they decide to team up to ruin the party. They came by and stole the cake! DMG, the first Game Boy model, must save the day!

Use your hands to catch enemies and to smash them on the walls. You can also smash them together!

Additionally, DMG Deals Damage will work on any Game Boy model, be it original, Color, Advance, or clone.

In this case, “DMG” is short for “Dot Matrix Game,” which was the code name for the Game Boy. In fact, the original gray game-playing brick’s model number was DMG-01. Allegedly, at first it wasn’t well-liked internally, so its internal nickname was Dame Game, with dame being Japanese for “lame.”

DMG Deals Damage is also available as a free browser game.

Are you thinking of picking this one up? Will you help DMG rescue its birthday cake from all the haters? Let us know!
