Earlier this year, developer Maze Theory revealed plans for Doctor Who on Nintendo Switch. Now we have more concrete details on which games these are and what they are. One is Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality, a reimagining of the VR game, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The other is a brand new experience called Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins. The BBC has detailed both titles and revealed a spring 2021 release window for them.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality builds on lasts year’s VR experience but sounds like a conversion to standard formats at its core. The Edge of Reality is a first-person adventure that features an original Doctor Who story where you’ll play as the Thirteenth Doctor, wielding her sonic screwdriver. It will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Back in May, we didn’t know too much about the second title, set to launch on Switch and mobile devices. However, now we know Kaigan Games’ Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins is an FMV game about finding clues using a found phone. It’s inspired by the Doctor Who episode “Blink” and tasks players with finding out what happened at Wester Drumlins, the abandoned home featured in the “Blink” episode of the show. Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins will launch on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
Will you be trying out Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality and The Lonely Assassins on Nintendo Switch next spring?
