Dodo Peak marches its way onto Switch towards the end of July

Publisher Screenwave Media and developer Moving Pieces have announced that their Apple Arcade exclusive, Dodo Peak, is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 31. The game will cost $9.99 on the Switch eShop and will be available to preorder on July 13.

As you can see, Dodo Peak is a puzzle platformer with a unique setting and art style. Players must guide baby dodos through treacherous levels whilst picking up coins, avoiding snakes and monkeys, and making use of power-ups within each level’s time limit. While the game might look simple on the surface, there’s a lot of strategic thinking that goes into each level and how to complete them with the maximum score possible.

Dodo Peak has more than 50 handcrafted levels, each with a unique goal and path to reach it, as well as shifting enemy layouts. Each level has a new environment, spanning tropical sandy islands, lush green hills, and even volcanoes. The developers say that more are on the way, attempting to offer greater long-term value for the game.

Leaderboards offer more replayability, and the game also features unique remixed versions of levels each week. These will push players to their limits, but those who achieve the best score every week will be glorified in the community’s eyes.

I think that there’s a lot to Dodo Peak. There’s depth to the gameplay and a promise of ongoing support that sounds like it will keep any player interested for a very long time, even if they’re just playing once per week.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
