September 23 Nintendo Switch Online NES SNES games Donkey Kong Country 2 The Peace Keepers S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Team Mario's Super Picross Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Nintendo Switch Online is getting a new NES title and three more SNES titles next week, and a couple of the SNES titles in particular are pretty exciting. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Mario’s Super Picross, and The Peace Keepers from SNES and S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Team from NES are headed to Switch Online on Sept. 23. Donkey Kong Country 2 is a deeply welcome addition following the long-awaited arrival of the first game back in July.

However, it’s especially darn cool to see Mario’s Super Picross make the leap to Nintendo Switch Online in North America, since the game had never been available in this region till now. It is a sequel to Mario’s Picross on Game Boy, and it, ya know, plays like Picross.

The Peace Keepers, meanwhile, is a beat ’em up from Jaleco, and gosh if that title doesn’t sound exactly like a game that should be a ’90s beat ’em up. And finally, S.C.A.T. is a sidescrolling shooter, except instead of flying around as a ship like in Gradius, you’re just a dude hovering around the screen shooting stuff — surely as God intended.

If you’re curious, as usual, Nintendo Switch Online in Japan is getting a different lineup of games, still including Donkey Kong Country 2 but otherwise including Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Natsume’s Wild Guns, and Tonkin House’s Super Tennis. You can check out a video of what you’re missing below.
