Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is coming to the Nintendo Switch. During the January 11th Nintendo Direct, Nintendo showcased a new trailer featuring a brand new character and mode. The writers here at Nintendo Enthusiast are huge fans of Tropical Freeze, so this is a welcome announcement. You can read our full review of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for the Wii U for more details about the game.

The new addition for the Switch release comes in the way of the super cool, surfing Funky Kong and a new “chill” mode of play. Playing as Funky Kong lowers the difficultly of the game allowing players to double jump, hover, infinite rolls, and infinite underwater corkscrews. He can even survive spikes with his trusty surfboard. This new mode will make the game much more accessible to a younger audience. The good news is, for the hardcore fans, the full experience is still playable just like the original. You can even enjoy the game in Co-Op using just 2 joy con. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is out on May 4th.
