Smash Bros. fans have been quite pleased with all the recent announcements we’ve been getting on the game. Well, things are about to slow down on the news front according to Sakurai himself. In a new Famitsu column Sakurai had this to say:

We announced Isabelle in the Nintendo Direct…however, it would be a mistake to think that the new character announcements will keep going [at this pace] until Smash Bros. releases. We may have been a little trigger-happy so we’ll be living modestly from here on out.”

It appears Sakurai is letting fans know not to expect any new Smash fighters announced for the next little while. It’s not like we haven’t gotten our fair share of fighters announcements. Since E3, there’s been a total of 4 new fighters announced with Isabelle being the most recent. Considering everything we’ve gotten so far, I think fans will be okay to wait a bit longer for more announcements.

The Leaks Say Otherwise

With every new Smash Bros. game, we always seem to get a whole bunch of fighter leaks. Smash Bros. Ultimate has been no exception to this. In the past few weeks, there have been some major ‘leaks’ reported that include possible new fighters. Does this mean we will be getting more fighter announcements? While there has been no official confirmation, I think it’s safe to say we will see a few surprises before the game’s launch. They always save the best for last, right?

Sakurai also commented on the game’s completion status. He mentioned, “It’ll be complete in just a little while longer… or so we expect!” No surprises here, considering this is the largest Smash Bros. game to date.

What are your thoughts on all this? Personally, I don’t mind waiting a bit for more announcements since we’ve been quite spoiled as of late. As always be sure to share all your thoughts with us down below!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7th.
