Doom Eternal trailer laser sword id Software Bethesda Nintendo Switch chainsaw

Id Software’s Doom franchise carries an important legacy for making horror and carnage into a fun pastime. The new Doom Eternal trailer carries this legacy proudly, bringing more of the extremely bloody brutality fans have come to expect. Granted, the trailer actually begins with some surprisingly subdued story segments and a cool shot of literal hell on Earth, but once the action hits, it hits. It chiefly features a moment toward the end where the Doom Slayer acquires a laser sword and lifts it epically as if it’s Excalibur.

Have a look and enjoy the new horror.

Doom Eternal was originally slated to release last November, but it was subsequently delayed to this year. The game will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on March 20, and it will release at a later date on Nintendo Switch. Anyone who preorders the title on a non-Stadia platform will receive a digital copy of Doom 64 free on Doom Eternal‘s day of release.

Preorders also receive the “Rip and Tear Pack,” which comes with a “DOOT Revenant Skin” (seriously), “Cultist Base Master Level,” and “Throwback Shotgun Weapon Skin.”

Do you think this game looks like a respectable upgrade from the first outing? Is there just too little blood in this trailer for your taste? Let us know!
