The artwork for Door Kickers might look like some weird knock-off of Rainbow Six, but it’s a different beast. From publisher QubicGames, (Robonauts, Real Boxing 2) Door Kickers is a real-time strategy game that tasks you with leading a SWAT team into different hostile situations. It plays from a top-down perspective and features short levels, so it should prove a good fit for Switch.
It’s been a long time coming though. Door Kickers released way back in October 2014 on PC, before we knew anything about Nintendo Switch. The system is becoming a popular destination for older ports like this. Early this year, QubicGames announced another six Switch ports, alongside Door Kickers. The company already has some titles on Switch too, and if you own any you’ll get a good discount on Door Kickers.
If you own Robonauts, One Strike, Mana Spark, Blazing Beaks, or Akane on Switch, you’ll get a 25% discount on Door Kickers. That’s a pretty solid day one offering. If you need more convincing on what the game is all about, here’s a developer feature list:
- 2D, Top Down for optimal tactical analysis
- Real-time with combat pause
- No turns, no hexes, no action points or awkward interfaces
- Realistic but action-packed
- Non-linear levels
- Unlimited gameplay via mission generator
- Freeform tactics – improvise, adapt, overcome
- Prepare your squad, chose equipment and weapon
- 5 trooper classes
Door Kickers from QubicGames arrives for Nintendo Switch on Dec. 26. Without a discount, it’ll cost you $11.99.
