double vinyl

A few days ago, we reported on a Mother soundtrack being produced for the holidays in Japan. While not as popular as its sequel Mother 2 (Earthbound), Mother (Earthbound Beginnings) is still a unique take on the RPG genre, mixing Americana with a turn-based battle system. Regardless, the video game has some rockin’ tunes. Fans who were anticipating the upcoming double vinyl will be happy to know pre-orders are now live.

A double vinyl consisting of the title’s greatest hits

As a reminder, here is the soundtrack listing for the records:

Disc 1

  • Side A
  • 1. Pollyanna (I Believe in You)
  • 2. Bein’ Friends
  • 3. The Paradise Line
  • 4. Magicant (Inst.)
  • Side B
  • 1. Wisdom of the World
  • 2. Flying Man
  • 3. Snow Man (Inst.)
  • 4. All That I Needed (Was You)

Disc 2

  • Side C
  • 1. Fallin’ Love, And (Inst.)
  • 2. Eight Melodies
  • Side D
  • 1. The World of Mother (Extended Version)

There’s some good stuff here. “Pollyanna (I Believe in You)” will get stuck in your head, and “Snow Man” is a delightful, impressive ditty. However, the lack of “Underground” is criminal. That track scared the bejesus out of me. No basement exploration for me, thanks.

Gamers can pre-order the double vinyl through Play-Asia. If you would like to get a feel for the Mother OST before committing, you can have a listen to it in full below:
