Developer and publisher Techland has announced that Dying Light 2: Stay Human has officially gone gold. When a game “goes gold,” it means that the game is ready to be published and the manufacturing process can begin (although, nowadays, when a game goes gold it is common for teams to transition directly from working on the release build to putting together a day one patch).
In a press release, lead game designer Tymon Smektala offered praise for his team and excitement regarding the upcoming release. Smektala stated that “we are very excited about this and now we can truly feel that this is actually happening!” Smektela also said that “after so many years of hard work we are proudly looking forward to the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human.”
Smektela also let fans know that, even though the game went gold, there is still a lot to be done, explaining that “this is it. The final and crucial moment for us. The game is ready to be manufactured, but we will not slow down. The fact that the game is done and we hit the gold status two months before the release is a great sign but it doesn’t mean that our work ends here. There are still some upgrades and tweaks to add, and community feedback to implement, but the base is solid and ready to play. I’m extremely proud of the whole team!”
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is due to release on Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC on February 4, 2022, though the Switch release will be limited to a cloud version.
