Inti Creates president CEO Takuya Aizu remake Zelda II: The Adventure of Link DidYouKnowGaming? directly emails Nintendo DYKG Did You Know Gaming? Lost Zelda games The Legend of Zelda

More than once, Inti Creates president and CEO Takuya Aizu has expressed his desire to remake Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for Nintendo, describing it as his “dream” remake. Inti Creates is known for stellar 2D games, including retro revivals like Mega Man 9 and 10 and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and its sequel, so it’s difficult to imagine a developer better suited to reviving Zelda II‘s unique sidescrolling gameplay. Despite this, Aizu has never formally approached Nintendo about the possibility of remaking the game. However, the DidYouKnowGaming? YouTube channel has personally rectified that, as revealed in its new video about “lost Zelda games.”

The informative video touches upon many planned The Legend of Zelda games that never saw release, including a potential Wind Waker 2, more Four Swords, the lost third Oracles game on Game Boy Color, and foregoing Twilight Princess 2 in favor of Link’s Crossbow Training. It also touches upon old plans by Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiaki Koizumi to remake Zelda II on SNES, since Miyamoto was deeply disappointed with the original when he released it on NES. That remake never materialized of course, but the video segues from there to discuss Inti Creates, Takuya Aizu, and his dream to remake Zelda II.

DidYouKnowGaming? specifically reached out to Aizu to ask what his approach would be to remaking Zelda II, to which he offered the following:

… if we were were to start development right away, I think it would be very aware of its Famicom Disk System roots.

(But) if this ‘dream remake’ were to happen a few years down the road, I think it would be made in a way that would be the most suitable for players at that time using the best development techniques we have available at Inti Creates. (But) if you talk too much about your dreams, they cease to be dreams, so I think I’ll leave it at that.

It is after that, at the end of the video, that DidYouKnowGaming? reveals it has emailed Nintendo directly to inform the company of Inti Creates’ desire to remake Zelda II. Now we just have to hope it gets the ball rolling on something real.
