Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires Nintendo Switch release date early 2021 Koei Tecmo Omega Force Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online

Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires is being showcased at the ChinaJoy 2021 expo this week. The game will not release on Switch until later on this year, but you can watch this new gameplay right now, which shows eleven minutes of footage. It includes a hefty dose of instantly recognizable Musou combat (AKA tanking down a truckload of enemies) through a particularly grand battlefield. Check it out below.

Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires was originally supposed to launch on Switch in early 2021, but it did not end up making that date (which is hardly surprising in the age of Covid). When Koei Tecmo finally has the game ready for us, fans can look forward to classic series combat, as well as strategic elements (such as issuing directions to units within combat) and nation-building diplomatic features that result in stronger armies for you to command.

Are you excited for Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires? What do you think of the new gameplay shown above? When the game finally does come out on Switch and other platforms, it will hopefully have been worth the wait. In the meantime, there are plenty of other Musou games you can enjoy on Switch, including the Breath of the Wild prequel Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
