Earth Defense Force fans have a few new projects to look forward to in the next couple of years. A new mainline entry in the series, Earth Defense Force 6, is currently in development. While no platforms have been revealed for the bug-blasting co-op extravaganza, it likely won’t be seeing a release on the Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, D3 Publisher have plans for a particularly wacky spinoff in the franchise that will be coming to Nintendo Switch. If, for some reason, you’ve always wished for some kind of fever-dream mashup of Minecraft and Earth Defense Force, then, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers, which has just been confirmed to be arriving in the west in 2021, is right up your alley.
While the voxelized action of Earth Defense Force: World Brothers was already confirmed to be arriving in Japan sometime this year, D3 Publisher has just shared that North American and European fans will be able to get their hands on the game sometime in 2021.
Often times, people are turned off by the Earth Defense Force series due to the swarms of realistic, goo-spraying bugs crawling around each map. If you’re sensitive to insects or don’t vibe with the violence of the main series, the blocky aesthetic of this new title is sure to help you face your fears and defeat some alien ants. In this spin-off, you’ll be traveling across fragmented dimensions and broken bits of real-world locations, leading to battles taking place across voxelized versions of the entire world.
