Earthworm Jim is coming back as an Intellivision Amico exclusive

Groovy! In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Intellivision announced that Earthworm Jim is coming back. The original team behind the SNES/Genesis games are banding back together to bring this new entry as an Amico exclusive.

Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico stated, “We have been talking about this moment for many years, it’s a dream come true to finally get the entire team back together.” Tallarico acted as the original composer for the first two Earthworm Jim games. “Intellivision Amico is designed to bring friends and families together and we are excited for fans and those just being introduced to the series to get a first look as we kick-off the design of the game.”

There will be a live stream of the first design meeting on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook May 4th 12 PM PST. The team plans to share their vision for the first new entry in the franchise in 20 years.

Interplay announced a new Earthworm Jim back in 2008, but little else has been said since. The only other release for the franchise was an HD remake of the original game in 2010.

It’s rather exciting to see Earthworm Jim come back. Seeing the original team members reunite to make this happen is nothing short of impressive. Many of them have gone on to their own separate ventures. So in a weird way, this is almost like if the Beatles reunited. But instead of music, they’re making a talking earthworm pilot a super suit. Art is art, yeah?
