Eastward release date trailer September 2021 Nintendo Switch timed console exclusive pixpil chucklefish

At the Nintendo Indie World Showcase today, publisher Chucklefish and developer Pixpil finally announced a release date for Eastward, which will arrive on Nintendo Switch on September 16, 2021 as a timed console exclusive. A new Eastward trailer was revealed as well, at last giving us a glimpse at locations we have never seen before, including a building that has a huge whale (maybe a real one?) on top.

Here is what PR has to say about Eastward ahead of its September 2021 release date on Nintendo Switch:

Discover a beautifully detailed post-apocalyptic world in Eastward, an action-adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon elements. In a near-future society on the brink of collapse, a hardworking miner called John discovers a young girl named Sam in a secret underground facility. This unlikely pair will embark on an emotional journey to discover the truth, traveling across a wonderfully weird world and exploring bustling towns, curious campsites and shady forests. Eastward launches for Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive on Sept. 16, with pre-orders beginning on Nintendo eShop later today.

We previewed a PC demo of Eastward way back in December 2019, with largely positive impressions. Hopefully the game has only dramatically improved even further in the long period since then. Let us know how hyped you are that Eastward finally has a release date.
