The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most successful game in franchise history. Naturally, Nintendo is working on a sequel, but they’ve also teamed up with Koei Tecmo for a prequel. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity depicts the events of the great war with Ganon that took place a century before Breath of the Wild. During Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo gave us another look at this upcoming game in the form of a livestream and a new trailer. Check out the Champions in action in this emotional trailer below.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Champions trailer
An emotional journey
Understandably, the new Age of Calamity trailer strikes an emotional tone. If you’ve played Breath of the Wild (and if not, spoilers), you know that the four Champions failed in their mission. Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa, and Revali (and even Link himself) fell in battle. We’ll be seeing those events play out in the new Hyrule Warriors game, so it won’t exactly have a happy ending. That said, we know Zelda eventually succeeds in sealing away Ganon, so there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel. However, she’ll have to endure much suffering to get there.
