Empire of Angels IV Softstar Entertainment Eastasiasoft

Empire of Angels IV will mark the tactical RPG series’s console debut when it arrives on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One digitally this summer (per Gematsu). It will also launch physically on Switch with preorders beginning at Play-Asia on April 22 at 11:00 a.m. ET / 8:00 a.m. PT for standard and limited editions, the latter of which includes a manual, collector’s box, original soundtrack, and numbered certificate. The series from Taiwanese developer Softstar Entertainment has existed since 1993 when it launched for MS-DOS, but it hasn’t been a known quantity in the West at all until recently. Empire of Angels IV originally released for PC in 2016.

As it comes to Switch, PS4, and XB1, Empire of Angels IV will deliver a revised English localization, full Mandarin Chinese voice acting for its all-female cast, and 3D graphics to go with its strategic turn-based battles. “Offering a fresh perspective on the history of Asgard, Empire of Angels IV reintroduces its lore, characters and mechanics with no prior knowledge necessary to enjoy this brand new adventure,” the game explains in its YouTube description. Slice-of-life humor and “the ability to shatter your all-female opponents’ armor!” will counterbalance political scheming and threats of war. If you can destroy women’s armor, it’s fair to say this is not an extremely serious experience.

Stay tuned for a final release date from Softstar Entertainment and publisher Eastasiasoft for Empire of Angels IV on Nintendo Switch and other platforms this summer.
