There’s not long to wait for E3 2021, which will be taking place next month from June 12 -15. All sorts of announcements have already been made leading up to the event, including information on the show’s hosts and partners. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has now announced a partnership with the International Games Developers Association (IGDA) to “highlight” indie developers at E3 2021. The rationale for the partnership is to “elevate indie developers and provide a new opportunity for all IGDA members to showcase their work at E3 2021 and beyond.”
Renee Gittins, the executive director of the IGDA, said, “The IGDA is thrilled to partner with the ESA to uplift indies during this year’s E3 and beyond.” The ESA’s president & CEO, Stanley Pierre-Louis, also added, “We are (reimagining) E3 in a variety of ways, and part of that is engaging with indie developers by offering opportunities to help highlight them and their work on a global stage.”
In other news, Nintendo has already committed to the event, alongside a wide lineup (but not Konami) of publishers. We can probably expect to see some kind of Nintendo Direct presentation in less than a month, so stay tuned for all of the exciting announcements. There are rumors about Donkey Kong and Metroid receiving a new game this year, with announcements potentially occurring during E3 2021. It will be interesting to see whether or not these rumors pan out. Are you excited for E3 2021, and what indie games would you like to see?
