We’ve seen our fair share of fan art over the years, like that incredible Final Fantasy VI creation by Dave Rapoza we spotted earlier this year. Some of this stuff goes above and beyond what official sources create, when talented artists have a real passion for the source material. Others stick closer to the source material but provide fans with other ways to display art. Here’s one such case, with some awesome craftmanship on show. Etsy artist Pigminted turns your favorite video game art and box art into wood carvings.
These aren’t cheap, but their storefront is jam-packed with incredible carvings, and they look worth the price of admission. The catalog includes some GameCube art that looks top-drawer, with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door designs highlighted.
We think these looks amazing. The attention to detail in just recreating the video game box art is one thing, but to then carve it into wooden mock-up GameCube cases is something else. The build quality looks really good too, which you should get from solid wood items.
If you love the look of these but want to stretch to other series, the option is there. Pigminted’s storefront also contains a bunch of SNES cartridges, along with NES and Game Boy options, plus various Final Fantasy and PlayStation designs. There are many different video game art wood carvings to choose from.
