EVO 2019 Smash Bros. Ultimate

With the registration window complete, the final participation numbers for EVO 2019 have been released, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is dominating the field. With 3492 players, the game has more than 1500 more registrants than the next closest game, which is Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition with 1929. Aside from being the biggest game at EVO 2019, this will also be the largest Super Smash Bros. tournament ever. The full list of games and player counts is listed below.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 3492
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition – 1929
Tekken 7 – 1885
Samurai Shodown – 1719
Mortal Kombat 11 – 1567
Under Night In Birth Exe: Late[st] – 1156
Dragon Ball FighterZ – 1191
Soulcalibur VI– 742
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – 640

EVO 2019 is a big year for the annual esports tournament on all fronts–BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is the “last place” game, but with 640 registrants, it is the largest “last place” EVO title ever, per twitter user @acekingoffsuit.

It will definitely be weird seeing EVO 2019 without Super Smash Bros Melee, but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a worthy successor that has taken over in ways I never thought possible. With such a huge Smash Bros. tournament on the way, EVO 2019 is sure to please. Will you be watching? What players do you have your eyes on? Let us know in the comments.
