Pokémon Sword Shield Wild Area

The Wild Area from Pokémon Sword and Shield is coming to PC and smartphones of all places. The content will be available on web browsers from some time early November to Dec. 31. Users can explore the Wild Area with a 360 camera and encounter Pokémon in the wild. The content will be available in Japanese, Korean, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

Similar to the Dynamax Camera, this promotional content might give us some early looks at Pokémon not yet shown in official materials. Assuming we get access before the release of the games on Nov. 15, we’ll be able to gain all sorts of key insights from this. Since the Wild Area is one of the bigger new features coming to Sword and Shield, I’m sure that players will be doing some crazy digging after this releases.

The Wild Area is the first attempt at open-world gameplay from the Pokémon franchise and will let players see Pokémon in the wild. At the moment, most footage of the Wild Area has centered around rolling plains and a few lakes, but maybe we’ll get to see something really interesting in there.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are only a month away now, and we’ll be steadily getting more and more information. After today’s surprising reveal of Gigantamax Meowth (and more), I’m curious what else they’re leaving for the last minute.
