For all intents and purposes, the Fairy Tail game seemed to be coming along smoothly. Plenty of trailers, magazine features and interviews were pouring out for the game in the lead-up to it’s planned March 19 worldwide release. Plans have changed, though. The Koei Tecmo published and Gust-developed RPG adaptation of the iconic manga and anime franchise has now been delayed to a June 25 worldwide release.
In an official statement released by Koei Tecmo regarding the announcement of the Fairy Tail delay, game producer Keisuke Kikuchi explained that the “developer’s desire to further enhance the game for a more enriching FAIRY TAIL experience” is the main reason for the delay of the game. They plan to use this delay to work on enhancing the magic effects, event scenes and game balance of the Fairy Tail game.
The full statement from Koei Tecmo and producer Keisuke Kikuchi is as follows:
“I am truly sorry for FAIRY TAIL’s delay, and the inconvenience caused to our fans, partners and stakeholders who are looking forward to this title. Please allow us to take further time to polish the game to ensure it is as high quality as possible, so we can offer you a truly immersive experience. We will be working hard to enhance the magic effects, event scene effects, improving the game balance and more! We will talk about the improvements in more detail in the coming months. This delay will allow us to ensure we provide you a much more satisfying game. Thank you for your understanding!”
Fairy Tail will now be available worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on June 25.
