We’re just a few days away from the launch of Fairy Tail, the latest flashy JRPG from Koei Tecmo and Atelier series developer Gust. Being based on a massive, long-running manga and anime franchise, there are dozens of characters and costume changes in the original material for the upcoming console game adaptation to pull from. While the base game already has an impressive amount of magic users included to form a party with, Koei Tecmo has just announced that even more characters are on the way as paid DLC, alongside paid costume DLC and even a free Photo Mode update.
In Fairy Tail, you’ll be teaming up with the members of the Fairy Tail guild to help rebuild its reputation after a seven-year absence. A lot of those mages will join you in battles and quests, but a few of them mainly play a support role or help manage your shops or upgrade facilities. Some of these supporting cast members, though, will become fully playable characters as upcoming paid DLC. On August 6, Koei Tecmo will reveal more details about DLC characters Lyon Vastia, Levy McGarden, Lisanna Strauss, and Elfman Strauss.
On August 6, Koei Tecmo also plans to share more info on upcoming costume DLC. There are three different planned packs so far, including the “Final Anime Season” and “Special Swimsuits” pack. Whether you do or don’t grab these paid DLC packs, though, you’ll still get free access to the upcoming Photo Mode update that is likely launching alongside them.
Fairy Tail is set to arrive worldwide July 30 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
