During Paris Games Week 2019, Koei Tecmo gave an impressive demo walkthrough of their upcoming video game adaptation of the iconic manga and anime series Fairy Tail. Now, the Gust-developed fantasy RPG has gotten a debut gameplay trailer to show off some more of the iconic action players can expect from the full release.
The trailer shows snippets of characters, scenes, and locations that will be familiar to dedicated fans of Fairy Tail. The video game is set to adapt the iconic Grand Magic Games and Tartaros arcs from the original series, and we spot a few key figures from those arcs during the trailer.
We also get a good look at a variety of playable characters we can expect to join our party during the game. Fiery protagonist Natsu Dragneel is obviously among them, as is warm-hearted mage Lucy Heartfilia and the master sword user Erza Scarlet. We also get a look at Wendy Marvell and Gray Fullbuster. Supporting characters like Juvia Lockser and Gajeel Redfox pop up during the trailer, but it isn’t clear if these Fairy Tail characters will end up playable or not.
Aside from characters, we also get a look at some of the gameplay systems in Fairy Tail. We get a peek at the mission board that players will be accepting various jobs from, as well as a hefty amount of footage showing off the dazzling turn-based combat of the game.
Fairy Tail is set to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in 2020.
