Plenty of fans were surprised to see the announcement of an HD remake of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. The obscure GameCube and Game Boy Advance hybrid Final Fantasy spinoff first came out back in 2004. Now, fans can relive the co-op magic on Jan. 23, 2020 with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition, and they can do so with anyone thanks to cross-play support.
A new trailer dropped recently for the game just in time for Tokyo Game Show, the yearly Japanese video game industry mega event. It shows off a variety of new features coming to the game, although the biggest one is arguably the inclusion of full cross-platform play and save support. With the game set to launch on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android devices, fans can link up and go on adventures together no matter what platform they’re playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition on. Furthermore, you can save your game on one system and pick up from there on any other system thanks to cross-progression across platforms.
On top of that, there’s also a huge amount of new audio included in this release. Characters have newly recorded voice-overs, and there’s brand new audio narration in the game. There are even new themes songs for the game recorded by Yae titled “Kaze no Ne” and “Hoshizukiyo.”
In terms of gameplay additions, there are brand new challenging end-game dungeons and boss fights to tackle. Additionally, each tribe in the game now has new variant character skins you can use.
