Square Enix has announced a free demo version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite, which will be available on Aug. 27, the same day that the full game launches on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Considering how old the original game is, it makes sense to put out a demo version to convince any skeptics that this is actually a terrific game.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Lite will allow you to play through three of the main game’s 13 dungeons. Anyone with the demo version of the game and an active Nintendo Switch Online account will be able to link up with up to three other players and take these dungeons on. Additionally, as long as one player owns the full game, the Lite players can join that player through all 13 dungeons, making for an easier multiplayer experience.
While it isn’t completely spelled out, it seems like save data from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Lite will transfer over to the full release. That would fall in line with how Square Enix has been handling its other demos on Switch, such as with Dragon Quest XI S and potentially with another Bravely Default II demo later this year.
