FFVII Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier closed beta pre-register pre-registration preregister Square Enix Android Google Play Store

Back in February, all at once, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PlayStation 5, as well as two surprising mobile titles, battle royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and RPG Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. Now, Square Enix has announced that pre-registration for the Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier closed beta has begun, and you can pre-register at the Google Play Store for Android until May 28. Apple is evidently not part of the beta. The beta will play out June 1 – 7, 2021.

Ironically, the object of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is to be the last SOLDIER standing. You will use ranged and melee weapons, plus magic and special abilities — even selecting a fighting style, like Warrior, Monk, or Sorcerer — to defeat your enemies and monsters too. Slaying monsters will give you experience to level up and unlock more weapons. Square Enix is trying hard to make this a distinctly Final Fantasy battle royale, including “rideable chocobos, powerful espers, including Ifrit, to summon and materia, which enables players to cast devastating spells.” Character outfits and accessories will be customizable, and there will be different emotes and weapon and vehicle skins to unlock.

If you’re interested in Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, you might as well pre-register for this closed beta and see what Final Fantasy as a battle royale looks like. At best, you might find a new addiction. (Wait, is that a good thing?)

And for a quirkier piece of Final Fantasy news — hey, have you seen the Final Fantasy VI arcade cabinet?
