Let me emphasize the word “brief” in this article’s title. We’re talking about mere seconds here. But for Switch fans aiming to catch a glimpse of the Mortal Kombat 11 running on their console of choice, this is the best we’ve gotten so far. A new commercial spot featuring players engaging in kombat on the Nintendo Switch edition has offered a glimpse at the game on Nintendo’s hybrid console. Check out the commercial spot below.
Unfortunately, we don’t even get to see any real gameplay action since an introductory cut scene was the only footage on display here. Netherrealm and WB have been shy to really put the Switch version on full display. Granted, it’s likely they want to keep their most graphically polished versions of the game front and center which, of course, is on the other platforms. But Switch owners and Mortal Kombat fans alike are anxious to see how the brutal brawler is going to shake out on Nintendo’s less powerful hardware.
Hands-on with Mortal Kombat 11 on Switch
Recently, however, one of our own was able to get some hands-on time with the game at PAX East. Be sure to check out that preview for more thoughts on the Nintendo Switch version of the game. There are some great insights in there on what to expect. As anticipated, some corners had to be cut in order to help the game run as smoothly as possible — something that is crucial for a fighter entry. Ed Boon did recently state that the game should be capable of running at 60 fps, a top-tier framerate. We’ll have to wait and see it for ourselves when the game launches later this month.
