Publisher Microids has announced Flashback 2, a sequel to the 1992 game Flashback. Development of the new title is being led by Paul Cuisset, who led development of the original. That first game was known for a cinematic presentation akin to what was seen in Prince of Persia, and protagonist Conrad B. Heart has to navigate various threats and platforming challenges. It remains to be seen how the sequel will play out, since nothing has been revealed about it yet except that it will come to “PC and consoles” in 2022.
About the Flashback 2 announcement, Paul Cuisset offered the following: “Developing a sequel to Flashback is an idea I’ve had for a very long time. I can’t wait for players to discover the new adventures of Conrad B. Hart, a character created almost 30 years ago. With Microids, we are really aiming to please the fans of the original title while being appealing to any players with a weak spot for futuristic games.”
Microids brought a remastered version of Flashback to Nintendo Switch back in 2018, including a “rewind” function, tutorials, remastered audio, and graphics filters. As such, it seems like a pretty safe bet that Flashback 2 will find its way to Switch as well next year. Meanwhile, Microids already has The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf and Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! coming to Switch.
