If you don’t do much mobile gaming, you probably have never heard of Florence from developer Mountains and publisher Annapurna Interactive. It’s only 30 minutes long and released for mobile devices in 2018, but it garnered a positive reception, including a BAFTA for best mobile game. The title comes from the lead designer of Monument Valley as well. Now, the title is heading to Nintendo Switch, Steam, and GOG on Feb. 13 for $5.99.
The game has a 40-second trailer, which means you’ll be experiencing approximately 2% of the whole game by watching it.
Despite the awards, this title reportedly did not sell outstanding well on mobile, so maybe Switch and PC can give this game a better second life. Here is how Mountains and Annapurna Interactive describe Florence:
At 25, Florence Yeoh feels a little stuck. Her life is an endless routine of work, sleep, and spending too much time on social media. Then one day, she meets a cello player named Krish who changes everything about how she sees the world.
Experience every beat of Florence and Krish’s relationship through a series of bespoke gameplay vignettes – from flirting to fighting, from helping each other grow to growing apart. Drawing inspiration from ‘slice of life’ graphic novels and webcomics, Florence is intimate, raw and personal.
I like comic books and romance and have $6, so maybe I’ll try to play this one sometime. What do you think of this celebrated mobile title coming to Nintendo Switch?
