the game awards Reggie Fils-Aimé

The year is rapidly reaching its end, and that means its awards show season. The Game Awards, an annual affair hosted by Geoff Keighley, are less than a week away. As usual, the livestream event will feature a mixture of accolades and world premieres along with a variety of celebrity guests. Thanks to a recent tweet from Keighley, we now know that one of those guests will be Reggie Fils-Aimé!

Reggie Fils-Aimé

Reggie Fils-Aimé served as President of Nintendo of America for over a decade. During his tenure he became one of the most popular video game executives of all time, starring in many Nintendo Directs and other presentations. He has appeared at The Game Awards on multiple occasions, and even retirement can’t stop him from showing up again.

Keighley announced Reggie Fils-Aimé as a Presenter for The Game Awards, which likely means he’ll be handing out an award. Reggie retweeted the reveal, promising “This will be legendary,” which has some people speculating that he’s there to reveal a Zelda trailer. While that would be exciting (and Zelda has shown up at The Game Awards in years past), I wouldn’t hold my breath. Reggie left Nintendo two and a half years ago, so it’s unlikely he’d be the one to deliver such a reveal.

The Game Awards

Beyond the appearance by Reggie Fils-Aimé, we know a few other details about The Game Awards 2021. Keighley has teased that we’ll see a game reveal that’s been in the works for two and a half years. We also know that Nintendo is up for several awards, including a Game of the Year nomination for Metroid Dread. You can check out the full list of categories and nominees by clicking here.
