Black Hole Fortnite

Today’s in-game event certainly lived up to all the hype. After the leak of Fortnite Chapter 2, players were expecting something big, perhaps even the immediate launch of Fortnite Season 11. However when the event finally happened the entirety of the Fortnite universe appears to have been sucked into a black hole.

At the moment, it doesn’t seem possible to play Fortnite. Just take a look at Twitch and you’ll find a legion of streamers staring at the pulsating image of a black hole, or just plain messing around waiting for an update. Even the official Fortnite Twitter has gone full blackout. A bold move by Epic Games, one I’m sure nobody expected to last this long.

Occasionally, numbers are popping up in-game and players are scrambling to decode a secret message. It also appears that a massive 5.29GB update has appeared on Fortnite for iOS and Android. At least there’s something to go off of here.

It’s clear that Fortnite will live on. At the moment there’s no confirmation on when the game will return, but Epic Games isn’t going to simply pull the plug on its cash cow. With the complete destruction of the Fortnite universe, the rumors of a completely new map definitely hold more water. Even a complete restructuring doesn’t look out of the picture now.

We’ll keep you updated on what’s next for Fortnite. Right now, let us know what you’re hoping for in the comments, or just how you’re passing the time.
