Many indie games take some serious creative liberties with very outlandish ideas you typically wouldn’t see in a AAA game. That’s exactly the case with this latest Nindie release, Freddy Spaghetti. Just as the name suggests, this game is all about mastering the art of noodle wiggling as you take control of a sentient spaghetti noodle named Freddy. Even reading this line back to myself still doesn’t make sense, but let’s move on.
Freddy Spaghetti puts you in the pasta broth-shoes of Freddy, a creation of the scientist Dr. P Starr. As Freddy, you’ll conquer this wacky world around you by noodle hopping throughout levels where you’ll run, jump, slap smash, kick, and dodge your way to victory in slick, noodly style.
Freddy Spaghetti uses funny physics to help you conquer the uniquely designed levels as you progress through the “hilarious and captivating story”.
Reading about such a weird game like this is one thing, but seeing it in action is a whole other level of “Huh?” Check it out for yourself:
Actually, now that I’ve given this trailer another watch, I’m walking away with more questions than answers. Why is Freddy running from the police? Why are heat-seeking missiles coming after him? Why is he smashing random people’s cars? Is this piece of pasta a wanted man-erm-noodle? How did it even become sentient to begin with? If Freddy can out-maneuver a police officer, then why on earth does touching a hot stove still cause him damage? Does he have to keep being cooked periodically in order to stay alive? As I said, there’s a lot to unpack here.
Nevertheless, if you think you’re ready to take on the mayhem and madness of Freddy Spaghetti, then make sure your hand is steady as you getty it over at the Switch eShop..etty. Alright, I’m done now. Freddy Spaghetti is available today for $4.99.
