Well, we sure didn’t have to wait too long for confirmation following a tease on Friday: The Funimation app is officially coming to Nintendo Switch on Tuesday, Dec. 15 in the United States and Canada, as announced in a blog post. The app will additionally come to Switch in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Mexico, and more countries “soon.” However, the good news doesn’t stop there. The app itself is receiving a “refreshing rework” with a new look and feel, new curation and a “My Anime” page, an anime launch schedule, and “much, much more!” Following the launch of the Funimation app on Nintendo Switch, the app will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in the months to come.
Funimation has apparently faced some criticism for the quality of its streaming experience, on its website at least, so this revised user experience will hopefully delight its user base. In any case, the Funimation app will be a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch library, which enjoys YouTube and Hulu but somehow still does not have Netflix. Of course, in this day and age of smart TVs, having the apps available directly from consoles is becoming a bit less important. But for those of you who want to watch TV not on the go but rather while you go, (You know what I mean.) more streaming on Switch is a beautiful thing.
